Research has shown mindfulness and breath work practices to have a positive effect on emotion regulation, calming our stress response system and reducing physiological markers of stress in our body by increasing present moment awareness. These tools allow us to surrender to our grief; to tap into inner-resources that nurture and empower from the inside- out.
Objectives include:
· Define grief and loss, including complicated and traumatic grief
· Differentiate between grief and trauma
· Learn how symptoms of grief + loss manifest in the physical + energetic bodies
· Explore societal norms/taboos [including the art of empathy] and their influence on healing and access to support across cultures
· Practice embodiment through breathwork, mindful meditation, mudras and gentle movement designed to nurture grief and empower healing
· Understand practices within the context of a trauma informed framework + plan for how to incorporate tools into your offerings with students/ clients.
